MEET THE TEAM

Founder & CEO
Katherine is a Hispanic industry pioneer, entrepreneur, and award-winning Public relations professional with over 17 years of experience in PR, marketing, digital strategy, influencer management, event production, and programming. As co-founder and partner of Hispanicize Media Group, Katherine, a bilingual, Peruvian-American Latina, was instrumental in shaping the company it’s become today. As former Managing Director of Hispanicize Event, Johnson-Gunn, boosted attendance and sponsorship revenue by 53% and developed experiential concepts for Fortune 500 brands looking to connect with U.S. Hispanics. During Johnson-Gunn’s tenure, she booked over hundreds of speakers and worked with A-list talent on performances, panels, and brand collaborations, such as Juanes, Rosario Dawson, Carlos Vives, Luis Fonsi, and Olga Tañón. She executive produced award shows and keynotes, while always championing up-and-coming artists, creators, influencers, and entrepreneurs, such as Lele Pons, LeJuan James, Julissa Calderon, Lizzie Velazquez, and countless others that have gone on to become household names. In addition, she has secured and managed support from multiple Fortune 500 companies including Prudential, Target, Toyota, Walmart, and Wells Fargo.
In addition to founding and managing Hispanicize Event from the inaugural 2010 conference until the last event that took place before the company was acquired by John Leguizamo’s NGL Collective, she is also co-founder of several startups including Dime Media, Hispanic Kitchen, Hispanic PR Blog and is a co-owner of LatinxNewsWire.

Throughout her 12+ years of industry experience, Amanda has led global, national, and local social media and influencer marketing campaigns spanning a wide array of verticals including telecom, QSR, retail, beauty, government recruiting, sports, and entertainment. Most recently, she spearheaded an award-winning multicultural influencer program with NASCAR, breaking down cultural barriers and introducing new fans to the sport through creative content integrations.
Having worked in both advertising and PR, Amanda prides herself in combining the best of both industries and offering her clients best-in-class marketing strategies enhanced with culturally relevant narratives.
